Come and join the Band!

With a busy summer season of engagements drawing to a close, Callington Town Band and its Training Band invite new members to ‘Come and Join Us!’

Whether you are a learner or returning after a break or an experienced player we would welcome players of all abilities.  Instruments can be provided, on loan, free of charge to members.  Cornet players are particularly needed.

AntheaLayAnthea Lay, one of our members, gave us a very interesting talk on her experiences as a contestant on the BBC art show. This was not Anthea’s first foray into art competitions, as she had been a regular contributor to the BBC’s Sketch Club programme in 1959. She and her family were delighted to see her efforts on their back & white TV.

From our Cornwall Councillor, July 2015


CornwallLogoI am going to have to start with a little grumble this month, which is litter at the side of the road. It is bad for wildlife and it looks terrible. We are all paying for this mess to be cleared up and there is really no need. Maybe it is because this is a beautiful time of year with all the signs of Spring and Summer but it does seem such a shame that a very few people can’t appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the country and so respect it.  Please take your rubbish home with you.  I’m sure most of you already do.

Life On The Farm

Well, what a busy time of year this is.  All different types of agricultural activities happening; crop preparation, harvesting.  As many are aware, the type of work which is to be carried out is solely dependent on the season and the weather.  I am writing this article to explain what agricultural goings-on are happening here at Church Park, when, and why.
