A Community Day was hosted by the Neighbourhood Planning Team at the parish hall in Golberdon on Saturday the 21st September.
The original idea for the event came from a suggestion by Cat Ede, and we would like to say a big thank you to her for this excellent idea.
Various local organisations put on a display, including the W.I., Callington Young Farmers, South Hill History Society, The South Hill Connection, the Garden Desk, St Sampson’s Church, SHARE, and the Parish Hall Committee. Several local businesses were also there, including David Trewin Woodcarving, Harriet’s Hatbox, David Skelton Electrical Services, Hendy Cards, and Alternative Therapies etc.
A competition for the best photograph showing something worth preserving in our parish produced some excellent entries, with the first prize going to Sue Skelton, with Simon Coleridge as runner up. The Coleridge family also won the awards for the best junior entry, by Marcus Coleridge, and the best pre-school age group entry by his brother Toby. Well done to all of you.
Twice during the afternoon we were also treated to a short performance by the new Ladies Choir, which is being recruited and trained by Rachael Budd. They are keen to attract new members, so if any ladies out there are interested, do give Rachael a call on 07846 055119 or email to rachaelbudd@gmail.com
The team are now busy looking at what you have told us about your ideas for the future of our parish, and are drawing up a questionnaire which will be delivered by hand to every household in the parish. We need volunteers to help deliver these, and to collect them after they are completed. If you are interested, or would like to help us write the questionnaire, please contact me on 01579 362623 or by email to neighbourhoodplan@south-hill.co.uk.
