SOUTH HILL W.I. DECEMBER & JANUARY REPORT
December Meeting
Our Christmas Party was on Wednesday 3rd. We all brought a plate of food to contribute towards the party, and we were treated to an evening of entertainment by the Pillaton ladies hand bell ringers who gave us recitals of various well known Christmas Carols. Members were then given the chance to have a go themselves!! This proved to be a harder than it looked!

Parish Hall – Chairman’s Update January 2015
Happy New Year to all from the Village Hall Committee.
The children’s Christmas party was a great success with a visit from Father Christmas and his helper, who gave presents to the children in his grotto – which was another masterpiece from Gary Middleton-Batts, he is already planning for this year’s party!! I would like to thank all the parents and helpers who helped to make the event so enjoyable, and to our benefactor who helped to cover the costs for the event. A big thank you to all who helped out.
This year we are planning to spend funds on projects such as solar panels, to help reduce the costs of heating for our customers.
A couple of early dates for your diaries: Village Hall A.G.M Thursday 7th May, South Hill Fun Day Saturday 15th August, Harvest Supper Saturday 26th September. Due to the demand of hirings for the hall, we have had to book early !!
Our next regular meeting will take place on Thursday 5th March, open invitation to all in the Parish. At this meeting we will start planning the South Hill Fun Day

Calstock Footpath Society AGM Report
Calstock Footpath Society have just celebrated their 30th AGM, preceded by a walk of course!
New officers were sworn in and the Chairman reported another successful year with interesting walks covering many miles and work parties clearing paths and streams and the near conclusion of the ongoing new Walks Guides. Four leaflets have already been printed, with the remaining six soon to be completed. The walks are listed on the web site and can be easily downloaded and printed off or picked up at various locations including those who supported the project.

Best Wishes to our Cornwall Representative Steph McWilliam
Steph is unwell at the moment, so there is no contribution from her in this edition of South Hill Connection.
We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to reading her column again in our next newsletter.

Golberdon Girls
The Golberdon Ladies Choir – aka The Golberdon Girls resumed rehearsals in January at the Parish Hall. Monday evenings, 7.30pm – 9.30pm. This term we will be rocking our way through ABBA in 2 part harmony and having a tremendous amount of fun doing so. Open to any ladies who can commit to most of the rehearsals. Nominal fee of £1.50 per session to cover hall hire and heating.
Golberdon Kids?
I am starting a children’s choir (unbroken voices) in the village hall – Thursdays 4.00pm – 5.00pm. Nominal fee of 50p to cover expenses. I need enough children to make it viable however. Children need not actually live in the village….all from surrounding areas are welcome. Parents/carers are welcome to stay for the rehearsals. Please contact me to register your interest. If there are a minimum of 10 children who can REGULARLY COMMIT TO REHEARSALS, we will make our first rehearsal on February 5th.

It’s time to sow broad beans, peas, onions, and leeks under cover, for early outdoor planting. Don’t forget to sow some sweet peas!
