SOUTH HILL W.I. DECEMBER & JANUARY REPORT

December Meeting

Our Christmas Party was on Wednesday 3rd.   We all brought a plate of food to contribute towards the party, and we were treated to an evening of entertainment by the Pillaton ladies hand bell ringers  who gave us recitals of various well known Christmas Carols. Members were then given the chance to have a go themselves!! This proved to be a harder than it looked!

After our supper we had a very quick meeting, the Treasurer giving us her Report. Members were reminded that the annual subscription was going to be due in January! Some of our members had attended the Bodmin Jam Festival, where their entry had won 3rd prize, the participants were congratulated by all. Details of the up and coming W.I Centenary Baton were given. Fifteen of our members were due to go to the Wheal Tor for a Christmas Meal.

January Meeting

Our Speaker for the evening was Mr. Andrew Harris, who sits as a Local magistrate. He had some very interesting stories to tell, a real eye opener! After our excellent speaker we had a short meeting, where Invitations from Harrowbarrow & Coads Green W.I had been received inviting our members to attend their organised celebrations for the W.I centenary baton, which was passing through the West Country. Treasurer’s report was given. Names were taken who wished to attend the Quiz being held at Cuddra, for the Rosebowl Trophy. Comments were received on how our new look Newsletter is now printed, many members unimpressed! It was decided that members should write to County Headquarters to voice our opinions. Members were told of the categories for the Royal Cornwall Show & the Launceston Show, members thinking caps on!!

Our Competitions for the evening were judged by Mr. Harris. Winners as follows:

Competition A (Reasons for being late)

1st Marina Herbert

2nd Dawn Veal

3rd Ellen Seward

Competition B (Cyclamen)
