From the church turn Right at the crossroads, towards Bray Shop. Follow the road to the entrance of Treven and turn Left into a grass field, head to the far corner, there’s a stile under a tree. Step up and down into another grass field with well behaved horses here, that will probably ignore you. Keep left aim towards Caradon Mast, and follow the hedge to the bottom fence with gate in the left corner. To your right spot a stile over the hedge, take care as you drop down into the road.
Turn Right towards Linkinhorne with St Mellor’s church coming into view. Turn left through a newly widened gate, clearly marked with a footpath signpost, into a grass field.
Walk towards the wind turbine and you’ll see 2 gates before you, take the left hand gate. Keep the hedge on your Right and at the bottom of the field go over the stile, cross a small stream, then walk up the sloping field, keeping the hedge on your right (turn around to see the views and catch your breath). In the top corner, you’ll see a gate (with a For sale sign on it). Go through this gate, into a path which opens into a track and brings you to Mornick.
Turn Left and you’ll soon come to a gate on your right, with a stone stile, follow the footpath signpost across the grass field to a wooden stile, keep going in a straight line ahead to a stone hedge stile in the corner behind a gate. Once you have taken care to negotiate this don’t forget to look around, stunning views in all directions of Kit Hill, turbine at Gang, Caradon, Cheesewring, Sharp Tor.
Turn right then left along the old hedgerow line, at the end , see a gateway ahead to your right. Go through (maybe muddy, there maybe cattle in this field, keep your distance from them) Keep straight ahead, slightly right and you’ll see a tree trunk, at the head of a line of ancient trees. You also have views into Lansugle. Walk down over the steep slope and there’s a stile to your right at the bottom, into a wooded area, cross the granite footbridge and straight ahead climb up the slope into the field and head to the gate in front of you onto the road.
Turn left and soon you’ll see a footpath sign on your right, to Trewoodloe. Climb up and over the stone steps and wood stile into a grass field. Straight ahead up the slope you’ll see a gate, along the hedge to the left is a stile, head for this. Climb over into another grass field. Keep the hedge on your right and you’ll find a stile in the bottom right corner. Granite steps bring you down to Trewoodloe,
Turn Right. At Trewoodloe House, (at the top of the hill) spot the footpath sign and entre the driveway, spot the signs ahead which go right then left up some steps and bring you to the pedestrian gate.
Go left, through a gate and keep the hedge on your right to a gate. Through this aim straight down over a steep slope to a gate into another driveway… follow this down to the road. Turn left… at the junction, (Kerney Bridge) ahead you’ll see the water works, take care crossing the road, follow the footpath sign along side by the river Lynher.
Pop over a small stile into the woods. Keep straight on, Follow the well worn path, Use the hand rail by the granite steps,
Keep along by the river, there’s a popular area to stop by the bench.
The footpath brings you to a field gate with a stile alongside. Continue over this into a quiet road. Turn right you’ll come to Bicton Bridge and the Old Mill with disused water wheel.
Turn back over the bridge and go up the steep hill to PENWARDEN,. Opposite the bungalow spot the footpath sign into a yard with stable, go straight through to a gate into a stoney lane. Follow this to a gate into a field with white horses. Keep the hedge on your left, through another gate then aim to the far hedge, to the right, there’s another gate with a stile. Over this go straight, hedge on your right, to a gate into the road.
Turn right then immediately left up the bank, over a bar stile into a large field. With your back to the hedge, look straight ahead. There’s a rough area ahead, go to this, once here, straight ahead again , you’ll see a small pedestrian gate, through this into a driveway. Turn immediately left up a bank and follow the overgrown lane, all the way to the road.
Turn Left… follow this all the way down to Golberdon crossroads, (there are toilets outside the parish hall) cross over onto the South Hill Rd… follow this all the way to the junction. TURN LEFT and this quickly brings you back to the start.
