Parish Remembrance Ceremony

warmemorial 007The customary annual gathering at the war memorial in Golberdon was attended by about 30 people.  In this 100th year since the outbreak of the Great War, we held a short service of Remembrance for those who gave their lives in both World Wars, and in many conflicts since.

warmemorial 003The service was taken by Mr Geoff Clemerson.  Members of the Parish Council took turns to read names from the war memorial and to give some information about the dead, such as their regiments, ages and where they lived.   Wreaths were laid by Councillor Steph McWilliam on behalf of Cornwall Council, and by Mr Dennis Hicks on behalf of South Hill Parish Council.  Marcus Coleridge of South Hill played the Last Post beautifully – this is the first time a bugle has been played at this gathering.
