The Ramblers in South Hill

ramblers logoBob Saunders and Kevin Connor from The Ramblers’ Caradon Group were present at the Neighbourhood Planning Day on 21 March, and were pleased with the amount of interest shown by parishioners in keeping local footpaths in good condition.

A number of problems were raised:

  • Most people agreed that the path from Baddaford to Treven no longer exists.
  • The path from the road east of South Hill to Higher Ford was felt to be impassable.
  • The path providing a short cut across the field just to the north of South Hill has been illegally obstructed by a stock-proof fence all round the field, and fingerposts had been removed.
  • Although the path going northeast from Lansugle was in reasonable condition, many people found it difficult to find the correct route where the path takes a ninety degree turn near Trewassick, suggesting the need for a signpost.

today 009The Ramblers will have a look at these paths to see if they can help with any problems which the Parish working party cannot handle.

At the Neighbourhood Plan Day there was a sign-up sheet for volunteers to get involved with footpath maintenance and improvements. Anyone else that would like to help please contact Ali (iamalihumphreys@yahoo.com) and if any other problems are identified we can add them to the list.

In addition if anyone is interested in “Beating The Bounds” to see if we can walk the Parish Boundary, also let Ali know.
