Neighbourhood Plan Update. The NP Steering group and parish council met with experts from Cornwall Council and agreed the most important thing is that the Parish residents are consulted and agree with the policies being proposed. Surveys will be distributed by email and printed copies for your input. Once there is a consensus this Draft Plan can be finally examined and if it passes this test there will be a referendum where you will be able to vote before it is adopted. This is some way off, so we need your help. The PC web site will be updated with all the relevant documentation so you can follow the process.
Callington and Gunnislake Health Centres are upgrading their computer systems and this may cause some disruption to the services provided while this is being undertaken. We thank you for your patience whilst we work towards introducing SystmOne, a better system for the Practice and our patients all round.

Callington Community College Alumna We’re looking for former pupils to return to school to motivate the current students, through a programme called FUTURE FIRST. Sign Up Here. The first official Future First event saw James Crawford speak for ten minutes to a Year 11 assembly about how he got to where he is now. The students absolutely loved it and James is going to feature on one of our posters. If you have a head shot of yourself and a line or two along the lines of “I went to Callington and now I…” you can be featured on the walls and information screens around college. I am principally a Drama and Theatre teacher and in the middle of directing our Christmas show, a version of ‘Mary Poppins’; on the 5th & 6th of December, former pupils, if you want tickets email me or any info about Future First. Harvest at St Sampson’s, South Hill This year’s Harvest at St Sampson’s was a bit different. In addition to the church being beautifully decorated, full of magnificent flowers & produce and the Golberdon Girls singing, an olive tree was planted during the service. The tree is a symbol of hope and peace planted in the mud of the parish. Everyone in the community was invited to bring a small amount of mud (earth) to the service, or to leave it in a bucket in the porch. In addition mud was also collected from all the junctions in the lanes and from the areas where people live. With the help of children and adults in the congregation, the tree was planted in a clay pot with an interlocking pattern around the top representing our connectedness. Crocks for drainage were placed at the base representing the certain Christian presence in the community. The mud the tree was planted in, represents all of our actions good and bad, just as soil contains a mixture of ingredients – not all pleasant. The tree with its central stem represents Jesus and the many branches represent all the people in the community, some tender and broken parts needing more care than others. The tree was then watered, representing blessings pouring through the people, reaching every part of our lives. Our tree now stands proudly at the entrance to St Sampson’s. A reminder for all that with God’s blessings, out of mud good things can grow. The harvest supper was well attended and with much laughter and fun £240.20 was raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and an overflowing box of food collected for the local foodbank. After all the competitive bidding everyone enjoyed a delicious supper and a welcome cup of tea. Many thanks to all who donated & bought and thanks to those who organised and made the evening so enjoyable. Judith Ayers.
