Open Meeting with Members of Cornwall Council

An appeal from Parish Councillor Ivan Callanan

pothole reflectionsAfter a request in this parish newsletter and an emailed reminder a couple of weeks later we were underwhelmed with only 10 parishioners stating they would like to meet the Chief Executive and other senior managers from Cornwall Council to discuss and get action on potholes, fly tipping, blocked drains, planning decisions, etc.

At risk of provoking personal injury to myself, are there really only 10 people in South Hill Parish who care about what isn’t being done by Cornwall Council here and elsewhere in the county? Perhaps everyone feels they are doing a great job and are providing a faultless service and great value for the council tax paid by us all. Perhaps I should have pitched the idea another way, so here goes…

If we arrange a meeting in the Parish Hall with those that run Cornwall Council at some future date and time (to be determined) would you be interested?

YES or NO?

If YES, what topics are of main concern to you, that you feel we should hear answers on?
Please email your response to meeting@south-hill.co.uk by MONDAY 7TH APRIL . If we get enough interest, we will arrange the meeting. If not then we’ll put our feet up and have a cup of tea, taking great comfort from the fact that all is well in the parish and everyone is doing a great job.

Thank you.

Ivan Callanan
South Hill Parish Councillor
