Thank you to everyone who has supported our bid for funding from energyshare Cornwall. The “bidding” phase has now ended but I think it’s still possible to view the video. We had support from 158 people and topped the poll. Well done! Geoff Hardman and a small group put together the bid and made the video, in only a few days, so a big thank you to them too. Next they have to complete a funding application form. A final announcement will be made in early November.
The aims of SHARE are to:
- take control of our energy future
- inform and educate our Community about sustainability
- ensure that any local renewable energy projects will benefit the residents of South Hill Parish
- find ways of reducing our carbon footprint, and the impact of rising energy costs.
As a consequence of making the energyshare Cornwall bid, we have been offered 3 days of free technical advice from BRE National Solar Centre, an independent advice service based at the Eden Project. Fortunately SHARE has already discussed suitable sites for solar panels. Our preference was to use the roofs of agricultural buildings and the roof of the Parish Hall. If you encounter a stranger called Henry riding a bike and gazing skywards, that’s our man. There are various ways that these installations could be funded. We will need professional advice on that. Whatever happens, all the benefits will stay within South Hill.
There will be another meeting of SHARE as soon as Henry makes his report and a bit more is known about the outcome of the energyshare Cornwall bid. Everyone who lives in the parish or has a connection is very welcome.
