South Hill Community Jubilee Orchard

Established in the Spring of 2022, the Orchard is owned by South Hill Parish Council and managed in co-operation with SHARE. Located just outside of Golberdon, this is a quiet open space for everyone to enjoy.

Jubilee Orchard

The orchard is being planted with traditional West Country varieties of apple, and is a haven for wildlife and a reserve for native flora and fauna.

TREES

The hedges were planted courtesy of the Woodland Trust to provide hiding places for birds, insects, invertebrates and small mammals, and in time will thicken to form a wildlife corridor.

The first thirty apple trees will be supplemented with different types of fruiting trees and shrubs, including nut trees, with the intention of planting pears, plums, damsons, hazel and walnut, among others, with a wildflower undergrowth.

The trees are also registered on the Forest for Cornwall and the Queen’s Green Canopy, celebrating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
