Callington Mayfest @ Callington
May 18 all-day

Picture Callington MayFest is now in its seventh year and has become the largest participative community event in Callington. This year it will be held on Saturday 18th May.

On the day, the streets and local indoor venues are packed with a host of things to do for all the family, whatever their taste: music, dance, theatre, children’s entertainment, an artisan market – and loads more. And this year there is the added excitement of a Viking re-enactment, taking visitors back to the days of the Battle of Hingston Down!

In the run-up to the day itself, there are FREE workshops covering Music-making, Song, Latino Dance and Samba Drumming. These are intended for people – from novice to experienced – who would like to work with new mentors to discover a different approach in their field or would just like to “have a go” at some taster sessions.

Further information to come.  See https://callingtoncave.weebly.com/mayfest.html

For this special occasion we want to make it bigger and better! This is where you can help
us!

As a small show with a small committee, most of our time on show day is taken up with judging, writing prize cards etc. We are asking any local groups, organisation or clubs to help us make the day a success in whatever way they can – holding a dog show, face painting, games on the field, or a tombola stall, all ideas welcome. Perhaps your group is raising money for charity or wants to raise awareness of a pressing topic?

If you have any ideas and would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Lucy Penney lucyede@live.com or Cat Sawford catede@hotmail.co.uk for more information.

We look forward to hearing from you!
